Fixing a Mercedes parts car before tearing it apart
Today I will be getting a 1983 Mercedes 300D with the OM617 Turbo Diesel minimally back to operating condition before tearing it apart as a parts donor. Driving it around is a great way to test out and prove the condition of many parts before taking the time to swap them into other cars.

Fitting a ZR2 Tire Carrier on WJ
Переглядів 6 тис.10 місяців тому
The process of how I fitted a tire carrier from a ZR2 S10 Blazer (or just a 2 door Blazer) onto my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. It is plenty strong for the 33x12.50 on 15x10 steel wheels and I plan to be adding more gear to it as well in the future.

Stay tuned to see this Jeep continue the journey back to being reliable to drive on the road! (Or watch me break down in it a bunch)

doubt ya read these but if ya do could ya do another video on your Lanzar pro 6.5 subwoofer if ya still got it got my self one just wanna see how its holding up long term
Do you still have this truck? Would be great to see some more content on it.
Ha, finished the video and it sounds like you sold it.
Keep it up man
Nice bumper build, only problem I could imagine is that both the stock bumper brackets as well as the mounting tabs on the frame are pretty flimsy. The bolts that hold the brackets to the frame are also a joke, if I remember it right there are two M8 bolts per side which I guess is meant as kind of a mechanical fuse so they can shear off on impact. The brackets slide out to the front so they're easy to change but access to the mounting tabs on the frame is very limited so you'll pretty much have to lift off the cab to cut them off and remake them. But that skid plate tied into the frame should stiffen it up pretty well 👍
nice work homie
Good video, thanks. We all as a 4x4 community need to set a standard of measuring from center hub, not floor, so the info is translatable to others.
I built this box today for 2 of these pyle subs, cost roughly 30 bucks using 5/8 mdf and it sounds 10 times better than the $100 prefab box I just bought. Much thanks!
Never mentioned the height dimension, luckily I guessed right when I went with 13 inches. Thats your height, gives a perfect cubic foot for the sub chamber.
Enjoyed the video. Your Dad told me about your channel. Nice work.
I came here because I bought a set of 9004 LEDs that I thought didn't fit, and couldn't return because I opened the package. I got pissy at the store clerk because they wouldn't refund me. Now I feel like an asshole because I didn't know you could take them apart to fit that plastic clip on. Problem solved.
These was a helpful video thanks
Do these mirrors still have the option to use the electric mirror cables? For example, to adjust the direction the mirror faces , left, right,up, or down.
Hows it holding up this is a 4 year old video. I am looking at getting one of these for my XJ
I broke a weld on one of the mounting brackets but otherwise it was great for the price. A buddy of mine is still using it, I upgraded this year
I was about to dive in and change out the wheel joints, pop the cover and check the locker, etc because of the loud popping/snap to center and difficult turning at slow speeds but I figured I would check out youtube first. Thanks for the video, saved me a lot of time.
Is it cool to work on dirty shit ?
Keep on posting videos very good presentation and easy directions thank you. But that is not whats leaking on mine. Still searching for leaking spot.
@backyardbuilder absolutely awesome vid mate. I have a terrano here in nz, proven itself as my favourite 4 wheel drive by far. I am thinking about making a partitioning wall to separate the rear cargo area. Work in the shearing industry so we have very dirty/smelly luggage aswell as 3 dogs. Am going to make aluminium gullwing doors to replace rear windows. They will also include a breather vent or maybe louvre idea for the dogs. But being able to completely separate the seating area from the dogs and shearing gear area would be great. Do u know if it would be possible.
For the love of god fold them fuckin mirrors in 🤦
Hey I realize this post is from 7 years ago but figured I’d try anyway!! Did you have to drill new holes in your door for top mounting bolt to go through?
The mirrors I got were bolt in, back then I definitely wouldn't have had the stomach to drill a hole in the door lol
So I was sent the wrong mirrors and just got the right ones. There installed on the Hoe now. I wanna change the wiring so I have the running lights like you did but am not sure how you got to the wiring? Does the glass just pull out for access? Thanks again
Good instruction!
Get rid of those running boards and put some 31's on it. It will be unstoppable.
So it's like full time 4wd? How your mileage affected I'm looking a a xj with front and rear lockers like these
Informative video but loose the creepy music, put on some AC DC.
Sub’d for the om617 willys swap. I have the same engine that I’m planning on putting in my Gen 1 SAS S10. Looking forward to it!
Really good video. I’m replacing just one. It goes in on injector 6 but won’t stay on injector 4. Got a same size hose from the parts store. Maybe I’ll order a kit online.
i need 73"
I am in the process of designing a winch system for my WJ. However, I dont like how the fairlead is mounted so low. Its not in the middle. I came up with a solution, as I am making a custom plate. I am making it so the winch is mounted upside down. This way the cable comes out higher and can go through the fairlead in the middle of the bumper. Ive also designed the bracket in a way so the bumper doesnt need to be cut, as its ugly and destroys the look. The clutch can be engaged by a lever below.
Nice Truck!
Sweet project man! I have a 1984 300D turbo-love these cars. Excited to see your progress.
Classics!
Nice video. Did you notice any additional driveline play? Maybe I didn't set my backlash correctly, but it seems like I have way more play in the driveline going on/off gas, shifting into reverse, etc.
They have a significant more backlash on the driveline because of how they work. So it’s normal
Still recommend 4 years later?
I've upgraded to nicer lockers since then, but if you're looking for cheap reliable traction, they're hard to beat
The torq locker is definitely quieter. No popping like that for sure.
Hell yea
Can you show us how to build the harness if is no longer available?
Hell yea
I wonder why that SL F8.8-31 # 17005 kit costs $ 582 on the USA Standard Gear Spartan Locker website but only $ 250 on Amazon and eBay? I've got a '92 Ford F-150.
I have a 1968 International loadstar CO-1700 that we are currently fixing so that I could use it to haul my vintage garden tractors to shows It has the 345 V8 and has a 4 speed with a 2 speed rear end
How many inches tall is it and what number of wheels and tires does it have?
I fitted one of these in my tj, it clicks ever so quietly, makes me wonder if you have the gaps right in yours.
ah yes and the engine light on even better we all got an engine light on but no problems with the engine lmao
👍🏼
Ima need a ZJ too now 😅
но двери как всегда провисли)))
Wish you’d sell a mounting kit 😂 that’d be awesome!
I have a 1978 International Cargostar. Cab wont tilt, when I hand pump Hydr. Pump, oil leaks out of line behind grill. I can’t find a place it should connect to. Would you send illustration how to a where to hook up for lifting cab. Any help please.
Cool. Been looking at mine in the driveway for two years. Rod knocking 318. Southern car. Trailered to Michigan..
What size tires are those? How much lift? Are those factory rims?
Hey I’m in need of big help I took a motor out of my 98 and am trying to put it into my 89 xj but the flex plates are not the same pattern for mounting to the crank is there a flex plate that I can buy that will work for the 89 cps?
That would be interesting to shift, that would be fun
